Sonya Johnson

Manager, Education Initiatives at United Way of Greater Nashville

Sonya Johnson currently serves as the Manager of Education Initiatives at the United Way of Greater Nashville, a position held since November 2019. Previously, Sonya Johnson worked at the United Way of Williamson County TN from April 2012 to November 2019, first as the Education Engagement Manager and later overseeing community impact as the Community Impact Manager from 2006 to September 2015. Sonya Johnson also held roles including Medius Circle Coordinator and Campaign Manager during tenure at United Way of Williamson County. Earlier experience includes serving as the School Director and K5 Teacher at Faith Christian Development Academy from 2002 to 2006 and as a Mayor's Fellow for the City of Indianapolis from 1997 to 1999. Sonya Johnson holds an MPA in Public Administration and Social Service Professions from Indiana State University and a BA in Political Science and Government from Jackson State University, complemented by education from the Center for Nonprofit Management.
