Betty Hobbs has a diverse work experience. From 1978, they worked as the Minister of Youth and Music at the Family of God Church, where they taught young people in ministry projects and led Bible study. Betty also prepared music for church services and choir. In 1988, they joined the United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg as the Vice President-Southside Operations. In this role, they oversaw the greater Petersburg area of the United Way coverage area, managed the UW campaign, and staffed and oversaw the volunteer council for community building and fund distribution.
Betty Hobbs attended Hopewell High School from 1971 to 1978 and obtained their diploma. After high school, they pursued further education by enrolling in Richard Bland College where they earned an Associate's degree. Subsequently, they continued their studies at Virginia State University and obtained a Bachelor's degree. Finally, Betty attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where they achieved a Master of Divinity degree. The field of study for each level of education was not specified.
