Sean Garrett has a diverse work experience in the nonprofit sector. Sean served as the President and CEO of United Way of Metro Chicago since 2018. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director of United Way of Central Carolinas from 2015 to 2018. Sean also worked at United Way Worldwide in various roles, including Vice President of Development, Director of Partnerships and Large Market Performance, and Director of Global Programs from 2010 to 2015. Before joining United Way Worldwide, they held the position of Director of Major Gifts at United Way of Metropolitan Chicago from 2005 to 2010. Sean's career in the nonprofit sector began as a Community Fellow at United Way of Dane County in 2004.

Sean Garrett attended Georgetown University from 2000 to 2004, although the specific degree and field of study are unknown. Sean then pursued their MBA at Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management from 2007 to 2010.
