United Way of Southeast Louisiana
UNITED WAY OF SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA [formerly United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area] For more than 90 years, no other nonprofit organization in the area has taken such a broad, objective view of the community as a whole like we do at United Way of Southeast Louisiana. We spend a great deal of time identifying, assessing and monitoring the most pressing needs in our region. We then fund programs, support collaborations, convene experts, advocate for change and foster new and needed community services to address the issues based on best practices. We work tirelessly to provide quality health and human services for our community and measure the results to ensure we are making a difference. We’re motivated and committed to improving lives. But we can’t do it alone…what this place needs is YOU! Investors, advocates and volunteers like you are helping every day to advance the quality of life for thousands of individuals and the region as a whole. Great things happen when we work together. You can GIVE. You can ADVOCATE. You can VOLUNTEER. OUR MISSION We want to eradicate POVERTY in Southeast Louisiana. OUR VISION Equitable communities where all individuals are healthy, educated and economically stable. WE HAVE A PLAN Our United Way has embarked on a journey to renew our approach to creating lasting change. Through research and engagement, it became clear that poverty is the fundamental issue in the region and the root cause of many of our social problems. This has led United Way to a bold vision to eradicate POVERTY. The aim of this plan is to present a compelling path forward toward a stronger, prosperous, and more equitable region. We want businesses and individuals to join us in developing strategies and partnerships. Together we can educate and empower people to help lift them out of poverty to create a stronger, better community. The Blueprint for Prosperity is our plan to move people out of poverty in our region and requires a change in the way our entire community approaches the issue creating pathways for prosperity for generations to come. Our Blueprint is driving our investments in the community to programs and collaborations focused on ending poverty; we are inspiring others to adopt our vision; informing others with data and innovative practices so they can accelerate their own impact; and initiating new collaborations where there are gaps. It is only through proactive collaboration that we can have the critical impact necessary to make our Blueprint for Prosperity a reality for all.
