Nhon Vo

Dr. Nhon Vo is a leading, innovative voice in the aluminum industry.

As Vice President of Technology, Research and Development for Unity Aluminum, Dr. Vo is responsible for technical, application, and customer developments of next-generation high-performance rolled-sheet aluminum products for automotive, food & beverage and other industries.

An internationally recognized expert in his field, Dr. Vo holds more than 20 patents and patent applications for advanced aluminum superalloys and has published 27 journal articles on different advanced structural materials, resulting in more than 1,400 citations.

In 2013, Dr. Vo co-founded NanoAL LLC, a materials technology company spin-off from Northwestern University. Under Dr. Vo’s leadership, NanoAL established partnerships with multiple Fortune 500 companies and developed several innovative and award-winning aluminum products. NanoAL also established R&D partnerships with numerous prestigious universities across the United States. NanoAL LLC was acquired by Unity Aluminum in 2018.

Prior to founding NanoAL, Dr. Vo was a scientist at Northwestern University, and also spent time at several National Laboratories, including Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos, as a visiting researcher.

Dr. Vo holds a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He won the prestigious MRS Gold Award Winner in 2010.
