Sharon Klier

Senior Medical Officer at UNITY Biotechnology

Sharon serves as Senior Medical Officer at UNITY. Prior to this role, Sharon joined UNITY as Vice President and Medical Director of Ophthalmology, in which she led the Ophthalmology franchise at the company, overseeing global development programs from early clinical phase to registration studies. She was directly responsible for conceiving and implementing clinical strategy of the development programs, as well as design and execution of clinical studies, oversight, interpretation, and reporting of clinical trials data and safety monitoring. Before joining UNITY, Sharon has held numerous clinical development and operations roles in increasing responsibilities, ranging from big Pharma to small companies – most recently serving as Vice President Clinical Development at Quark Pharmaceuticals and prior to that she was Director, Clinical Development at Allergan, Inc. Previously, Sharon served in several roles at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and ISTA Pharmaceuticals. Sharon is a member of Healthcare Businesswomen Association (HBA), Ophthalmic World Leaders (OWL) and served as a mentor and a member of several professional associations’ committees, including ARVO’s Commercial Relationship Committee.

Sharon received her MD from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, School of Medicine and her MPH in Public Health Policy and Management from UCLA where she also received her Bachelor of Science in Physiology.
