Chief Accounting Officer at Unity

Mark Barrysmith is the current Chief Accounting Officer at Unity. Prior to this, they served as Vice President, Corporate Controller at Amazon from May 2015 to May 2022. Before Amazon, they worked at the US Securities and Exchange Commission from July 2006 to July 2008 as a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant. There, they consulted with auditors, preparers, and commission staff on complex accounting and reporting matters. Mark also participated in the development of SEC rule proposals and proposals by accounting standard setting bodies. In July 2008, they became a partner at KPMG US where they spent two years in the Department of Professional Practice answering technical accounting and reporting questions. Mark also authored many of KPMG's internal and external publications on technical accounting matters and was a member of the AICPA Task Force responsible for producing the AICPA Practice Aid on valuation of privately-held-equity securities issued as compensation. In 2010, they returned to Seattle to serve as either the lead audit partner or concurring review partner on many public and private companies in KPMG's Pacific Northwest practice.

Mark Barrysmith completed a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at California State University, Fresno.
