Susan M. Aspey

Susan M. Aspey has extensive experience in corporate affairs, strategic communications, and public relations. Their most recent role was as the VP of Corporate Affairs & Strategic Communications at Universal Technical Institute, Inc. starting in 2023. Prior to that, they served as the VP of Media and Government Relations at American Public Education, Inc. from 2022 to 2023. Susan M. also worked as a Senior Communications/Public Affairs Consultant in 2022.

In their previous roles, Susan held positions at Ellucian as the VP of Corporate Affairs from 2020 to 2021, Cengage as the Head of External Communications from 2019 to 2020 and SVP of External Relations from 2014 to 2019, and Pearson as the VP of Media Relations from 2012 to 2014 and VP of Communications from 2010 to 2012.

Their earlier experience includes working in the U.S. government at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as the Press Secretary for the Office of Gulf Coast Rebuilding from 2006 to 2007, the U.S. Department of Education as the Press Secretary from 2004 to 2006 and Acting Press Secretary from 2003 to 2004, and the U.S. Department of State as a Communications Surge Team Member in 2005.

Susan began their career in 2001 as a Special Assistant at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Overall, they have a strong background in communications and public affairs, with experience in both the private and public sectors.

Susan M. Aspey holds a Master's degree in Journalism from Temple University and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from West Virginia University.
