About the Job

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the Finance Department, which is responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, and financial management for business operations across the organization. This role will be a part of the Executive Team and report directly to the COO.

As a member of the Executive team, you can expect to work closely with the founders of the company, be a strategic partner for organizational strategy and decisions, and manage board-level reporting and presentations. This role is rewarded with an executive compensation package.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as leader on the Executive team and participate in board meetings
  • Prepare and report KPIs, financial information and trends to inform decision-making impacting the business (e.g. subscription churn, customer lifetime value).
  • Provide detailed financial reports and analysis to the Executive Team, and work with leaders cross-functionally to understand the trends in the business and advise on interpreting the financial results impacting their department.
  • Manage all Finance operations including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, billing, collections, and payroll.
  • Prepare and report monthly financial statements.
  • Supervise and own the completion of the month-end close process.
  • Prepare and maintain financial budgets and forecasts on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Manage cash flow projections and planning.
  • Upkeep the Company’s tax compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Serve as the people manager to all members of the Finance Department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CPA required
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or financial management
  • 3+ years of experience in an Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar role
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Expert Excel / Google Sheets skills with comfortability working with large data sets
  • Proficient in applying U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to interpret, synthesize, communicate, and present complex financial information
  • Strong familiarity with financial reporting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Additional qualifications which are helpful but not required are:

  • Experience using cloud-based computing programs such as QBO, FulFil ERP, and Paycom
  • Experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced start-up environment
  • Experience building and implementing new processes
  • Experience working in E-commerce or CPG

Location

In-office work arrangement reporting into HQ (Roseland, NJ)
