Ana Lucía Maya-Aguirre is a distinguished professional in environmental governance with extensive experience in academia and non-profit organizations. As the Director and Co-founder of the Observatory for Marine and Coastal Governance since May 2019, Ana Lucía leads efforts dedicated to research, public policy monitoring, and environmental advocacy in Colombia. In addition, Ana Lucía serves as an academic advisor at Universidad del Rosario, helping master's students formulate research proposals. Previous roles include Regional Director for Latin America at the Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and the Environment, consultant at the Rights and Resources Initiative, and professor at multiple universities, including Universidad del Norte and Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano. Ana Lucía holds a Master of Laws in Energy and Environmental Law from Tulane University Law School and has a solid educational background with degrees in law and constitutional law from Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
