Deputy Vice Rector For Knowledge Transfer at Universitat de Lleida

Roberto García serves as the Deputy Vice Rector for Knowledge Transfer and Associate Professor at Universitat de Lleida since February 2006, specializing in areas such as Semantic Web, Human-Computer Interaction, Ontology Engineering, Copyright Management, Blockchain, and Data Sovereignty. Roberto has held the position of Deputy Vice Rector for Research and Transfer and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of British Columbia in 2024, focusing on blockchain technologies and sovereign data sharing between Canada and the EU. Additional roles include Academic Advisor for INATBA from 2019 to 2023, Visiting Researcher at Fondazione Bruno Kessler and RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub in 2023 and 2022 respectively, and part-time professor at Next International Business School from 2017 to 2022. Roberto's early involvement includes research with the Universidad de Oviedo and consulting work with JAAK where blockchain and semantics intersected in media rights management. Roberto’s education includes a PhD in Computer Science from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a Master’s in E-Commerce from Universitat Ramon Llull.
