Sofia Makieva

Sofia Makieva PhD is an accomplished Clinical Embryologist and researcher with extensive experience in the field of reproductive sciences. Currently serving as the Senior Deputy of SIG Embryology at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) since June 2018, Sofia focuses on promoting educational activities, advancing the profession of Clinical Embryology, and contributing to the ESHRE Certification for Embryologists. In addition, Sofia works as a Clinical Embryologist at Universitätsspital Zürich and previously held positions at Ospedale San Raffaele and the MRC Centre for Reproductive Health, University of Edinburgh. Sofia's research interests include endometrial receptivity, embryo implantation, and non-invasive preimplantation embryo diagnostics, complemented by a solid educational background with a PhD and MSc from the University of Edinburgh in Reproductive Sciences.
