Patrick Hamel

Patrick Hamel is a highly experienced medical doctor specializing in ophthalmology, currently serving as the Chief of Hospital Services in Ophthalmology at CHU Sainte-Justine since February 2000. In addition to this role, Patrick Hamel holds multiple academic positions at Université de Montréal, including Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Program. Since September 2015, responsibilities also include the role of Adjunct to the Vice-Dean for Postdoctoral Medical Studies at the Faculty of Medicine. Patrick Hamel has been actively involved with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as an examination jury member since 2002 and serves as a pediatric ophthalmologist at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont and McGill University Health Centre. Educational qualifications include a medical degree from Université Laval and a fellowship in ophthalmology from Université de Montréal, complemented by specialized courses in documentary filmmaking and cinematography.
