Dan Smith

Dan Smith has extensive experience in academia and policy development, currently serving as Vice-President Strategic Growth and Vice-President Academic & Research at University College of the North since 2012, alongside previous roles as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business, and Science and Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Science. Prior to this, Dan served in the Royal Canadian Navy (Reserve) since June 1987 as a Senior Officer and held various positions at the Council on Post-Secondary Education from 1996 to 2012, including Manager of Policy Development & Analysis. Dan also contributed to policy analysis at the Executive Council of the Government of Manitoba from 1994 to 1995. Dan holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy, Education from the University of Manitoba, earned between 2002 and 2009, and completed education at the Disaster Recovery Institute of Canada in 2009 and St. Paul's High School from 1983 to 1987.
