Shantel Martinez

Shantel Martinez, PhD, is an experienced professional in the field of education and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Currently serving as a DEI Specialist II at UCAR - The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research since September 2022, Shantel has previously held leadership roles at the University of Colorado Boulder as the Director of First-Generation Programs and Enrichment, and at California State University, Monterey Bay in various capacities including Affiliate Faculty and Director of the Otter Cross Cultural Center. Additional roles include Assistant Director of Student Engagement at The University of Kansas, and instructor positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Shantel's extensive academic background includes a PhD in Communication and Media Studies, a Master of Education in Educational Policy Studies, and dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Comparative History of Ideas, all from prestigious institutions.
