Simon Macklin

Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Professor, Education & Social Justice at University for the Creative Arts

He has specialised in working with higher education stakeholders in providing strategies for widening participation, building research environments, and delivering excellent teaching.

Simon Macklin joined UCA from the University of West London, where he was Interim Director of Quality and Academic Policy.

Previously, he was based at GSM London (formerly Greenwich School of Management) and Deputy Dean of the Business School at BPP University, London.

Simon has an MA Research in Music Theatre and a BA in Drama from Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Alongside this, he is a member of the International Society for Innovation Management Professionals and the Society for Research into Higher Education. He has recently completed a PhD in Education and Social Justice from Lancaster University.

Career highlights include: working on national and local learning and teaching project leading to institutional improvements in student experience; guiding the strategic development of UK degree-awarding powers for three institutions; facilitating the growth of a new business school from inception to 4,000 students; and working as an advisor on an inclusion and diversity strategy for a magic circle law firm, which resulted in them making The Times Top 50 Employers for Women list.
