Peter Thomas

Peter Thomas, PhD, is Vice President of Outpatient Services for Penn Medicine Princeton House Behavioral Health. A member of the Princeton House Behavioral Health senior leadership team since 2000, Dr. Thomas has executive responsibility for five outpatient centers located in North Brunswick, Hamilton, Moorestown, Eatontown, and Princeton. His responsibilities include strategic planning, analytics and forecasting, program development, clinical and business process improvement, regulatory compliance, and fiscal accountability. Dr. Thomas is also responsible for Princeton House’s Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program, a tele-health business line he designed and implemented to provide safe, uninterrupted patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Thomas is a practicing clinical psychologist with 30 years of experience in clinical, academic, and administrative leadership positions. Prior to joining Princeton House Behavioral Health, he served as executive director of Advanced Behavioral Health Systems where he managed capitation, case rate, and fee-for-service programs across multiple outpatient locations. Dr. Thomas also previously served as a faculty member at the University of Illinois College Of Medicine at Chicago and the Institute for Juvenile Research with teaching, research, and clinical care responsibilities.

Dr. Thomas received his bachelor’s degree from Boston University and his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University. He served two years as a Clinical Fellow in Psychology at Harvard Medical School where he received clinical training at Beth Israel Hospital and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Thomas earned the Approved Supervisor designation from the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy after two years of additional training at the Family Systems Program in Chicago. He is an active member of the Association for Ambulatory Behavioral Health where he has given multiple national presentations on the development and management of partial hospital programs. Dr. Thomas is also a member of the American Psychological Association and the New Jersey Psychological Association.
