Matthew Taylor

Matthew Taylor is a distinguished academic and researcher with extensive experience in computer science and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as a Full Professor, Associate Professor, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta since March 2018, Matthew also holds the position of Research Director at AI Redefined (AIR) since May 2022. With a background that includes roles as an Adjunct Professor and Assistant Professor at Washington State University since January 2013, Matthew was a Fellow-in-Residence at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) from May 2020 to November 2023, contributing to advancements in AI research. Prior experience includes serving as Principal Researcher at Borealis AI from October 2017 to March 2020, and as an Assistant Professor at Lafayette College from July 2010 to December 2012. Matthew's academic journey began with a PhD in Computer Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin, complemented by a BA in Physics and Computer Science from Amherst College.
