Shelly Decker

Shelly Decker is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in executive communications, storytelling, and social media strategy. Currently serving as an Executive Communications Strategist at the University of Alberta since June 2022, Shelly develops and executes communication strategies to advance institutional priorities while collaborating with Strategic Communications colleagues on issues management and media relations. Prior to this role, Shelly was Communications Manager at Covenant Health Canada, leading integrated storytelling and digital strategy efforts, and held various positions at NAIT, including Team Lead and Senior Communications Specialist, focusing on content creation and social media governance. Additional experience includes communications leadership roles at Grant MacEwan University and the Centre for Autism Services Alberta, as well as a journalism background with the Edmonton Sun. Shelly holds a Master of Arts in Communications and Technology from the University of Alberta.
