Christoph Schmidl currently serves as the Head of the Master Programme "Renewable Energy Systems and Technical Energy Management" at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt since September 2013, overseeing both administrative and scientific aspects of the program. In addition to this role, Christoph has been a Key Researcher and Scientific Advisor at BEST - Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies GmbH since 2009, providing scientific guidance in the area of biomass combustion, and has managed multiple research groups comprising up to 40 scientists. Previous experience includes a position as a Senior Researcher at Bioenergy2020+ GmbH from 2008 to October 2014. Christoph holds a PhD in Technical Chemistry from Technische Universität Wien, completed between 2005 and 2008, and received earlier education from BRG St. Pölten.

The University of Applied Sciences, Wiener Neustadt was established in 1994 as the first of its kind in Austria. From its inception and by law it was unequivocally positioned in the third level of education in Austria. Its aim was to combine academic studies with a more practically orientated education, which would be specifically suited to the business and technology sectors of today. It remains the largest university of its kind in all of Austria, with the biggest selection of courses taught in the English language. With the establishment of the bachelor´s program Business Consultancy International (taught exclusively in English), the University of Applied Sciences, Wiener Neustadt hopes to further its reputation and international connections, as well as providing students with the opportunity of a truly unique and international degree.
