Prof Hisham Mehanna

Prof Hisham Mehanna serves as the Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor for interdisciplinary research and Director of the Institute for Global Innovation at the University of Birmingham, where additional roles include Chair of Head and Neck Surgery and Director of the Institute of Head and Neck Studies and Education. Since November 2012, Prof Mehanna has been a Consultant Head & Neck and Thyroid Surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, following a previous position at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. Academic contributions include serving as an Honorary Professor at the University of Warwick from October 2010 to October 2012. Prof Mehanna holds a PhD in Head and Neck from Erasmus University Rotterdam, an MB ChB (hons) from the University of Glasgow, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England with a specialization in otorhinolaryngology head neck surgery.
