Douglas Whiteside

Professor (conservation Medicine) at University of Calgary

Douglas Whiteside is an experienced veterinary professional with a focus on conservation medicine and zoological medicine. Currently serving as an Associate Professor and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary since 2003, Douglas also holds adjunct positions in Biology and Zoological Medicine. In addition to academic roles, Douglas has been a Veterinary Consultant at Guyana Zoo since 2002 and a Senior Veterinarian at Calgary Zoo- Wilder Institute since 2001. Prior experience includes a Veterinary Resident position at Toronto Zoo, a Veterinary Internship at Louisville Zoo, and work as a Staff Veterinarian at Boyne Veterinary Clinic. Douglas earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Sciences in Zoo/Wildlife Medicine and Pathology from the University of Guelph from 1998 to 2001, following a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the same institution between 1989 and 1995.
