Rakesh Goel

Rakesh Goel currently serves as the Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of California, Merced, a position held since October 2022, overseeing the development of the engineering school at a rapidly growing campus. Prior to this role, Rakesh Goel spent eight years at California Polytechnic State University, where contributions included serving as Associate Dean for Research, Graduate Programs, and Operations, Interim Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, and Executive Associate Dean, focusing on research initiatives, graduate education, and industry partnerships. Rakesh Goel began an academic career as an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University from January 1995 to May 1997. Educational qualifications include a PhD and an MS in Civil Engineering, both specializing in Structural Engineering, from the University of California, Berkeley.
