David Kisailus

Professor And The Winston Chung Endowed Chair In Energy Innovation at University of California, Riverside

David Kisailus is the Henry Samueli Faculty Excellence Professor and Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, where David leads the Biomimetics and Nanostructured Materials Lab in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. In addition, David serves as a Professor and the Winston Chung Endowed Chair in Energy Innovation at the University of California, Riverside. Kisailus has extensive expertise in biomimetics, nanomaterial synthesis for energy conversion and storage, and structure-function analyses of materials. David's previous roles include Research Scientist positions at HRL Laboratories, a post-doctoral researcher at the UCSB California NanoSystems Institute, and a faculty member at both the University of California, Riverside and the University of California, Irvine. Educated at UC Santa Barbara with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, David also holds an MS from the University of Florida and a BS from Drexel University.
