Bassem al-Sady

Bassem Al-Sady is an accomplished academic with extensive experience in plant molecular biology and chromatin biology. Currently serving as Associate Professor at the University of California, San Francisco since November 2013, Bassem previously held the position of Assistant Professor in Residence at the same institution from June 2006 to July 2013. Bassem's research background includes a postdoctoral position and an Associate Specialist role at UCSF, alongside graduate studies at UC Berkeley, where significant contributions were made to understanding the molecular mechanisms of light signaling in plants. Bassem's early research experience includes internships at the Max-Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research and Aventis Pharmaceuticals, focusing on plant genetics and biochemistry. Education includes a Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBioc in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford.
