Fiona Aiken

Fiona graduated with a degree in Ancient History and Classical Civilisation from the University of Sheffield and since then has worked in higher education as an administrator and manager in a variety of roles. She began her career at Sheffield University, then moved to join the University of Glasgow, at which stage she began to develop her interest in good governance. From there she moved to Lancaster University, where she was appointed as the University Secretary in 1999. She took early retirement after serving as a member of the senior management team of that University for almost 17 years. Her focus most recently was on governance, the management of academic standards and quality, and corporate risk management.
