Professor And Senior Scientist at University of Delaware

Steven Hegedus is a seasoned academic and researcher with over 40 years of experience in solar cell and renewable electricity research. Currently serving as a Professor and Senior Scientist at the University of Delaware since May 1982, Steven has also been a Professor in the Electrical Engineering department since September 2018. Throughout a prolific career, Steven has educated nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate students in photovoltaic technology and has initiated research focusing on the cybersecurity of smart grid-connected solar inverters. As a Senior Scientist at the University of Delaware's Institute of Energy Conversion, Steven leads advanced solar cell process development, specifically utilizing heterojunctions and interdigitated all-back contact technology. Prior experience includes a role as a Test Engineer at IBM Corp, where Steven designed and tested semiconductor devices. Steven holds multiple degrees in Electrical Engineering, including a PhD from the University of Delaware.
