Christoph J. Börner

Vice-Rector for Study Quality & Teaching at University of Düsseldorf

Prof. Dr. Christoph J. Börner, born March 8, 1964 in Cologne, is a business economist and has been a university lecturer at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf since 2002. Christoph J. Börner studied business administration at the University of Cologne from 1986 to 1990 after completing his banking training at the then Stadtsparkasse Köln. He then received his doctorate (1994) and habilitation (2000) at the "Seminar for General Business Administration and Banking Management" at the University of Cologne as a student of Hans E. Büschgen. In 2000 he was awarded the Venia Legendi for Business Administration.

In the 2001 summer semester he held a deputy professorship at the University of Mannheim and in the 2001/2002 winter semester at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, where he was appointed university professor in 2002. Since then he has held the chair for "Business Administration, especially Financial Services" in Düsseldorf. There he works in research and teaching with banks, insurance companies and other financial service providers. The focus is on the interaction of institutional structures, business policy strategies and regulatory requirements.

From 2005 to 2007, Christoph J. Börner was Dean of the Faculty of Economics. Since January 2012, Börner has been Scientific Director of the Düsseldorf Business School. He is also a member of various associations and committees, including a member of the Exchange Council of the Düsseldorf Stock Exchange since 2010.
