Edward Watkins is a Professor in Experimental and Applied Clinical Psychology at the University of Exeter, holding a personal chair since October 2003 and serving as Director of the Mood Disorders Centre, which Edward co-founded in 2004. Prior to this role, Watkins was a Reader and Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry from October 1998 to September 2003 and worked as a Research Fellow in Cognitive Clinical Psychology of Depression at the Institute of Psychiatry and the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit. Earlier experience includes serving as a Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Psychologist at Maudsley Hospital in London from January 1994 to January 1998. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Psychology from the University of London, a Diploma in Cognitive Therapy from the Institute of Psychiatry, and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of London, as well as an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Physiology from the University of Oxford.
