Peter Garrod is the University Secretary at the University of Greenwich. Peter has held this position since February 2018.

Prior to their current role, Peter served as the University Secretary and Registrar at London Metropolitan University from August 2014 to February 2018. In this role, they were responsible for the delivery of effective governance, legal compliance, legal services, risk management, student discipline, complaints and appeals, and the management of key internal and external strategic relationships. Additionally, they led and transformed the professional services teams supporting academic delivery in the University’s Schools, including modernisation of business processes and structural change to achieve efficiency targets.

Before their time at London Metropolitan University, Peter served as the Director of Governance & Legal Affairs Management at King's College London from June 2009 to August 2014. In this role, they were responsible for leading the Governance & Legal Affairs Management team and providing support to the university’s Board of Governors, Council, Court and other key committees. Peter also oversaw the provision of legal services, student discipline, complaints and appeals, and risk management.

Prior to their role at King's College London, Peter served as the Information Compliance Manager at SOAS University of London from June 2004 to June 2009. In this role, they were responsible for managing information compliance across the university, including data protection, freedom of information, records management and Information Governance.

Peter began their career as an Archivist at the University of London Computer Centre from January 1998 to June 2004. In this role, they were responsible for managing the University’s archival collections and providing advice and support on archives and records management.

Peter Garrod has a Bachelor's Degree in Peter'story from Brown University, a Postrgraduate Diploma in Information Rights Law and Practice from Northumbria University, a Diploma in Computing from The Open University, a Master's Degree in Archive Studies from UCL, a Master's Degree in Peter'story from the University of Chicago, and a Leading Change and Organisational Renewal from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

They are on a team with Peter Taylor - COO, Jane Roscoe - Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Mark O'Thomas - Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Architecture, Computing & Humanities. Peter Garrod reports to Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor.
