Austin J. Shelton, Ph.D., serves as the Associate Professor and Director of the UOG Center for Island Sustainability and Sea Grant at the University of Guam since March 2016. In this role, Shelton leads initiatives to foster sustainable practices in island communities, focusing on indigenous energy alternatives and renewable technologies. Prior experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for SACNAS, contributing to the advancement of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists, and working in marine biology during doctoral studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Shelton holds a Ph.D. in Zoology with a specialization in Marine Biology, as well as a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, with a robust background in research and community engagement in environmental sustainability.
