James D. Sellmann

Dean & Professor, Philosophy & Micronesian Studies at University of Guam

James D. Sellmann is the current Dean and Professor of Philosophy and Micronesian Studies at the University of Guam. James has previously worked as an instructor at both the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Chaminade University in Honolulu. James has taught a variety of courses over the years, including Introduction to Philosophy, Symbolic Logic, Asian Philosophy, World Religions, Philosophy of Law, and Philosophy of Religion.

James D. Sellmann earned their B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. James then went on to earn their HS diploma in General Studies from Bishop Duffy High School. After that, they earned their MA in Chinese Religions from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Lastly, they earned their Ph.D. in Chinese Philosophy from the same school.

They are on a team with Anthony R. Camacho - University General Counsel, Deborah D. Leon Guerrero - Vice Provost, Institutional Effectiveness, Academic & Student Affairs, and Alicia C. Aguon - Dean & Associate Professor, Mathematics. James D. Sellmann reports to Thomas Krise, President.
