Michael Bauer is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in both academia and research. Currently serving as a Senior Research Advisor and previously in various research roles at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco since August 2010, Michael also holds the Heisenberg Professorship at the University of Hamburg, where Michael has been a Professor of Economics since February 2020. Additionally, Michael lectures at the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business since August 2018, and previously taught at the University of California, San Diego. Michael's early career includes internships with the Federal Reserve Board, AXA, and Yum! Restaurants International, as well as a position as a Quantitative Financial Analyst at Wegelin & Co. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Economics from UC San Diego and a Master's degree in Quantitative Economics and Finance from the University of St.Gallen.
