Michael Winter is a doctoral student at the University of Hamburg since November 2021, previously serving as a research intern at Institut Néel CNRS from February to July 2021. During the internship, Michael investigated the photoluminescent properties of a carbon dimer defect in hexagonal boron nitride, employing a finite size cluster approach in GW and Bethe-Salpeter calculations. Michael holds a Master of Science degree in Physics from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, attained in August 2021, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the same institution, completed in August 2019.
