Rostislav Makarov

Rostislav Makarov is currently an Associate Researcher at the University of Hamburg, focusing on real-time diffusion speech enhancement since February 2025. Prior to this role, Makarov served as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at ID R&D from February 2019 to December 2024, where significant contributions included the development of state-of-the-art voice biometrics and voice antispoofing systems and the optimization of training pipelines utilizing Google Cloud TPU. Makarov's earlier experience as a Machine Learning Engineer involved the early development of voice biometrics and antispoofing systems, alongside creating large-scale data pipelines for speaker verification. Makarov holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Hamburg (expected completion: December 2030), a Master's degree in Information Technology from ITMO University (2017-2019), and a Bachelor's degree in Laser and Optical Technology from ITMO University (2013-2017).
