Olaniyi Fawole has a vast and diverse work experience. Olaniyi is currently serving as the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Postharvest Technology and Innovation at Inderscience Enterprises Limited. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Postharvest and Agroprocessing Research Centre (PARC) and Professor (Full) at the University of Johannesburg. Olaniyi also worked as an Associate Professor at the same university.

Olaniyi has also held positions at Stellenbosch University, where they served as a Full Professor (Extraordinary) and Associate Professor (Extraordinary). Olaniyi started their career at Stellenbosch University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and gradually progressed to become a Senior Researcher and Researcher.

In addition to their academic positions, Olaniyi Fawole has served as a Full Professor (Extraordinaire) at the Tshwane University of Technology and as a Visiting Professor at Prescious Cornerstone University. Olaniyi has also worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the UNESCO International Centre for Biotechnology.

Furthermore, Olaniyi Fawole has been actively involved in various committees and initiatives. Olaniyi has been a member of the Advisory Committee for the Food Loss and Waste Initiative at The Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA). Olaniyi is also an Ambassador for the Global Goodwill Ambassadors (GGA).

Lastly, Olaniyi Fawole has taught as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Cape Institute for Agricultural Training: Elsenburg.

Olaniyi Fawole completed their education in the field of Agriculture. Olaniyi earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from Stellenbosch University between 2010 and 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Botany/Plant Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 2007 to 2009. Olaniyi Fawole's academic journey began at Obafemi Awolowo University, where they completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc, Hons) degree in Botany/Plant Biology from 2001 to 2006.
