Mitzi Vernon is the current Dean of the College of Design at the University of Kentucky. Mitzi previously served as a Professor at Virginia Tech for 20 years, teaching a variety of courses in industrial design. Vernon has also chaired and served on numerous committees throughout their career, with a focus on pedagogical form studios and accompanying travel exhibitions. Prior to their time at Virginia Tech, Vernon was a Visiting Instructor at the California College of the Arts and a Graduate Teaching & Research Assistant at Stanford University.
Mitzi Vernon's educational career has spanned many different fields and disciplines. Mitzi holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Stanford University, as well as a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech. Mitzi also has a Bachelor of Science in Housing & Interiors from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
They are on a team with Christian Brady - Interim Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Janie Heath - Dean, College of Nursing, and Simon J. Sheather - Dean, Gatton College of Business and Economics. Mitzi Vernon reports to Robert DiPaola, Acting Provost.
