Ruben Ibarra

Director, University Safety Operations at University of La Verne

Ruben Ibarra is the current Director of University Safety Operations at the University of La Verne. Prior to this, they served as an Adjunct Instructor at Santa Ana College and Golden West Community College from January 2014 to December 2019. In this role, they administered law enforcement/criminal justice curriculum based on professional experiences to student body, developing future-facing graduate candidates ready to deliver tangible impacts.

From January 1992 to February 2019, Ruben Ibarra served as a Task Force Commander with the Santa Ana Police Department. In this role, they oversaw a task force consisting of local, county, and federal law enforcement personnel charged with investigating sophisticated domestic and transnational criminal organizations.

Ruben Ibarra began their law enforcement career as a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department – JoinLAPD in January 1990. Ruben served in this role until December 1992.

Ruben Ibarra has a MS in Criminal Justice from California State University, Long Beach and a Certification from the State of California in Private Investigator - Manager. Ruben also has a Leadership Certification from the FBI National Academy.
