Claire Knowles

Claire Knowles holds the position of Associate Director: Research and Digital Futures at University of Leeds Libraries, where responsibilities include leading a multi-million transformational digital libraries infrastructure project as part of the Library's Vision: Knowledge for All initiative. Previously, Claire served as Head of Research Support and Digital Libraries at University of Leeds, overseeing essential library systems. With an extensive background in digital development, Claire has held key roles at the University of Edinburgh, including Library Digital Development Manager and Acting Head of Digital Library, managing various aspects of digital preservation, research data management, and open access publishing. Earlier experience includes software development roles at the University of Manchester, University of Edinburgh, and in the private sector as a tools programmer and web developer. Claire earned an MSc in Information Systems from the University of Liverpool and a BA (Hons) in History from The University of Sheffield.
