Richard Beardsworth

Richard Beardsworth is a distinguished academic in the field of international politics, currently serving as Professor of International Politics and Head of School at the University of Leeds since September 2019. Previously, Richard held the position of Professor of International Politics and Head of Department at Aberystwyth University from September 2013 to August 2019, and served as Professor of International Relations Theory at Florida International University from May 2012 to August 2013. Richard's career also includes a significant tenure at The American University of Paris from 2000 to May 2012, where Richard taught courses in political philosophy and international relations, and chaired the Working Paper Series in Social Science. Richard's educational background includes a BA and MA in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Cambridge, as well as an MA and D.Phil. in Critical Theory and Political Philosophy from the University of Sussex. Research interests focus on cosmopolitan political judgment, the interplay between value and power in world politics, and global leadership.
