John Vassar serves as the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor since June 2017. Previously, John held the position of Provost and Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Louisiana State University in Shreveport from August 2004 to May 2017, and also served as Department Chair for Fine Arts, Foreign Languages, and Humanities. Prior to these roles, John was a Professor at LSU Shreveport from August 2000 to May 2004. John Vassar earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Baylor University between 1995 and 2003.
