Peter Cramton is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland, active in market design research and mentoring students since January 2023. Previously, from January 2018 to January 2023, Cramton served as a Professor of Economics at the University of Cologne. Cramton has extensive experience in auction and market design research, initiated in 1983, and held a Professorship at the University of Maryland from August 1993 to December 2017, where Cramton continued to engage with PhD and post-doctoral students. Cramton also led Market Design Inc. as Chairman from January 1995 to December 2016 and held an Associate Professorship at Yale University from July 1984 to August 1993. Cramton earned a PhD in Economics from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BS in Operations Research from Cornell University.
