Khurun Poojanraj is a seasoned professional in forestry and environmental management, currently serving as the UN FAO National Correspondent for Mauritius since April 2017, while also fulfilling the role of a part-time lecturer at the University of Mauritius. With a background that includes research on trace metal contamination in estuarine sediments and extensive experience in the Forestry Service, Khurun has progressed from Assistant Conservator of Forests (2002–2009) to Deputy Conservator of Forests (2009-present), focusing on the management and conservation of forestry resources. Additional consultancy roles include training for Entreprendre au feminine Ocean Indien and managing the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden from 2013 to 2015. Khurun holds a post-graduate diploma in forest management from the Indian Institute of Forest Management and has pursued education at the University of Mauritius and Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
