Julie Freeman

Julie Freeman is the General Counsel and Chief Legal and Risk Officer at the University of Melbourne since October 2021, following a successful tenure as the General Counsel and Executive Director, Legal and Risk. Prior to her current role, Julie served as the Assistant Victorian Government Solicitor at the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office from July 2013 to October 2021, leading a team dedicated to supporting the Victorian Government. Julie's experience also includes board memberships at the Victorian Government Purchasing Board and the Tweddle Child and Family Health Service, as well as a significant legal career at Allens, where Julie held the title of Special Counsel in the Energy, Resources and Infrastructure Practice Group. Julie completed the Company Directors' Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2024 and holds degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Melbourne.
