Julianna Abel is an accomplished academic currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota since December 2014, where previous roles included Benjamin Mayhugh Assistant Professor. Prior experience includes a position as a Graduate Student Researcher in the Smart Materials and Structures Design Laboratory at the University of Michigan from September 2005 to August 2014, focusing on active knitted actuators for radical change structures. Julianna also contributed as a Graduate Student Instructor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and as a Teaching Fellow for an Algebra Project at Ypsilanti High School. Earlier experiences involved serving as a Peer Mentor at the University of Cincinnati and conducting research on high temperature superconductors at the Air Force Research Laboratory. Julianna received a PhD and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
