Kyle Costa, PhD, currently serves as the Strain Improvement Technical Lead at dsm-firmenich, where responsibilities include developing and implementing technical workstreams while managing a global innovation team. Since March 2018, Kyle has also held the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota's College of Biological Sciences, teaching various courses and managing the Costa Laboratory, directing operations and research with an annual budget of $400K. Prior experience includes roles as a Scientific Course Consultant at the Marine Biological Laboratory, leading lab exercises for the Microbial Diversity Summer Course, and serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the California Institute of Technology, where numerous research contributions and publications were made. Kyle obtained a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Washington and a BS in Biology from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
