Joanna Shelton is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in international economics, trade policy, and education. Currently serving as Vice Chair of the Board at The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana and as a Senior Associate (Non-Resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Joanna also contributes as a narrative nonfiction writer, with the publication of the book "A Christian in the Land of the Gods: Journey of Faith in Japan" in 2016. As a faculty affiliate at the University of Montana, Joanna teaches courses on economic policy issues while advising students and public audiences. Previous roles include Deputy Secretary General at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Trade Policy at the U.S. Department of State, and International Economist at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Joanna Shelton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from Duke University and a Master of Arts in International Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
