Nicole Buan

Nicole Buan is a Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where responsibilities also include serving as the Biological Chemistry Graduate Program Chair and Faculty Senate President. Nicole has been a Fellow at the National Strategic Research Institute and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Biological Sciences, contributing to the enhancement of STEM faculty recruitment, promotion, and retention as the Coordinator of ASPIRE APLU iChange. Additionally, Nicole is the owner of Molecular Trait Evolution, a startup biotech focused on synthetic biology of extremophilic organisms. Previous experience includes serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Predoctoral Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Educational credentials include a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, following a BS in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Arizona.
