Dr. April Moreton joined University of Northwestern in February 2019. Prior to her appointment, she led various fundraising efforts for University Advancement at John Brown University (JBU) in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She also served as Research Analyst at Dallas Baptist University.
While at JBU, Dr. Moreton oversaw the offices of Foundation and Corporate Relations, Development Events, Advancement Services, Alumni and Parent Relations, and the JBU Scholarship Fund (annual fund). She was part of an award-winning fundraising team, successfully completing an historic capital campaign ahead of schedule and $18 million over goal. At the time of Dr. Moreton’s transition to Northwestern, she was in the final year of a second capital campaign on schedule for successful completion. She also served as an adjunct instructor and thesis advisor in JBU’s graduate MBA and Higher Education programs.
Moreton received her undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University, Master of Arts in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of North Texas. Dr. Moreton is a certified fundraising executive achieving and maintaining Certified Fundraising Executive (CRFE) status. She participated in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Women’s Leadership Development Institute (WLDI) in 2002 and was awarded Faculty Star from CASE District IV for her presentation “When Students Say Thanks” in 2014.
Moreton and her husband, Sam, are the proud parents of Asher, Ava, Brock, and Scarlett.
