Stephenie Maurer

VP, Institutional Advancement at The Aspen Institute

Stephenie Maurer has 20 years of experience leading fundraising and relationship development strategies in the education, health and policy fields. She has a successful track record designing and implementing programs for strategic growth, building effective development teams, and bringing together leaders from the public and private sectors in support of game-changing ideas and initiatives.

Prior to joining the Aspen Institute as Vice President for Institutional Advancement she served as Assistant Vice President and Assistant Dean of Development for the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University (GW). In this role, Maurer managed all aspects of fundraising, sponsorship, corporate relations and alumni engagement for one of the nation’s fastest rising schools focused on global health and policy. She also served as a member of the school’s executive team and helped set strategy to execute the school’s vision and mission.

Maurer previously served as the top development officer for university-wide corporate and foundation partnerships at GW. In this role, she raised over $50 million annually through innovative partnerships with organizations including Siemens, Duke Energy, Raytheon, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Working with the university president and deans, Maurer helped to grow the university’s attainment by 20 percent and introduced innovative new programs in research and development across a variety of industries.

Prior to GW, Maurer served as the lead development officer for Safe Kids Worldwide, an initiative of Children’s National Medical Center, where she created global partnerships with companies including Johnson & Johnson, General Motors, PepsiCo and FedEx. She began her career in communications and public relations supporting national education reform and policy efforts.

Maurer received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Louisville.
